No Vacancy occupies the last remaining Victorian house in Hollywood, a building from 1902 on Hudson Avenue just off Hollywood Boulevard. Getting in involves going through a back alley, up a staircase, and through one of three doors in a decorated hallway. The actual entrance to the bar is through a mechanical bed in one of those rooms, which reveals a staircase down to the main space. Inside the house there are fireplaces, antique bookshelves, a photo booth inside an old phone booth, and various hidden corners to discover. On Friday and Saturday nights at 11pm, midnight, and 1am, tightrope walkers, fire-breathers, and burlesque performers work the space. The cocktails are solid and the visual experience is unlike most bars in LA. Weekend entry lines can be long and the door staff is selective, so arriving before 10pm helps considerably.
