Mr. Wanderlust is on the eighth floor of the Moxy Hotel in DTLA, part of the Level 8 multi-concept nightlife floor. The bar builds its identity around a fictional world-traveling gentleman, and the two-room layout plays into that: a lounge-like anteroom with a fireplace and bookshelves, and a larger performance space with serpentine booths and intricate oak detailing. The entertainment schedule runs toward the theatrical, with a rotating piano act, burlesque performers, and a magician who moves between tables on show nights. The cocktails are crafted and themed to the concept. Reservations are recommended on performance nights, and a minimum spend applies. It is a heightened experience rather than a neighborhood bar, and works best when you go in expecting that.
