Drawing Room has been a Los Feliz fixture since 1983, operating out of a strip mall on Hillhurst in the kind of location that sounds wrong until you actually go. Inside it is cash-only, dimly lit, and decorated with a hand-painted gold dragon mural running across two red walls. The drinks are large, strong, and cheap by any LA standard. Sunday karaoke is a long-running tradition that draws regulars who show up early to claim their usual seats. The jukebox is genuinely good. The crowd skews eclectic in the best possible way and the bar has the feel of a neighborhood institution that does not need to explain itself to anyone.
