Smuggler's Cove

Smuggler's Cove at 650 Gough Street in Hayes Valley is a rum bar masquerading as a tiki bar, offering the largest selection of rums of any bar in the United States with over 1,300 varieties in stock. Walls of rough wooden slats resemble a ship's hull, while maritime tchotchkes decorate beams and cubbies, including a realistic full-sized anchor tied across the ceiling. Founded in 2009 by Martin and Rebecca Cate, the bar was named Best Bar in the United States by Tales of the Cocktail in 2016 and has appeared on The World's 50 Best Bars six times. Martin and Rebecca published the award-winning book Smuggler's Cove in 2016.
