Sad Valley is Portland's funeral parlor-themed bar in the Humboldt neighborhood, a shrine to kitsch and a facetious retrospective of Western Civilization. Owner Jeremy Alexander renovated the space with an art-school background, aiming to make a difficult subject less difficult through an interesting space based around death. The bar sells fine spirits, cheeseburgers, t-shirts, and snacks. Cocktails include classics alongside "sad cocktails" with names like Beloved Daughter and Cryin' Swaggart. The Classical Cheeseburger features local beef on a Dos Hermanos sesame brioche bun.
