The Overlook Bar is at 25 West 24th Street in the Flatiron District, inside the McKittrick Hotel, and it serves primarily as the entranceway and warm-up space for Speakeasy Magick, an intimate magic show hosted by Todd Robbins that has been running there for years. Guests arrive at The Overlook, have a drink while a magician performs a brief preview set, and are then escorted through a secret passage into the performance room.

As a stand-alone bar the Overlook is solid. Cocktails are distinctive enough that regulars have favorites, the Scrubbing Bubbles is described as an alcoholic bubble tea, and the staff are working within a theatrical context that seems to have sharpened the drink-making rather than distracted from it. The bartenders at The Overlook have an unusual job, and the good ones have figured out how to make the pre-show feel like part of the experience rather than a waiting room.

The McKittrick Hotel also houses Sleep No More, the immersive theater production, so the building has a long history of running events where the boundary between performance and venue is deliberately unclear.
