The Newsroom
The Newsroom is in Long Island City, in the basement of Hotel Z NYC on 43rd Avenue, and the entrance involves a 1920s-era newsstand adjacent to a Michelin-starred sushi restaurant. Behind the refrigerator doors stocked with Coke and Snapple is the bar itself, which operates Thursday through Saturday with live aerialist performances starting at seven-twenty and a Caribbean-Latin-Asian fusion menu from celebrity chef Ricardo Cardona and chef Jonathan Broadwater.
The LIC location puts The Newsroom outside Manhattan, which is a practical consideration when you're deciding whether to make the trip from elsewhere in the city. The guests who do make it are rewarded with a cocktail program, an unusual performance element, and a kitchen that spans enough cultural territory to produce something distinctive.
Reservations are strongly recommended given the limited seating and the Thursday-to-Saturday-only schedule.
