Sloane's is on the second floor inside The Manner, a hotel on Thompson Street in SoHo, behind a door that's easy to miss if you're not looking for it. The room is jewel-toned and deliberately glamorous: reds, deep greens, gold, a waterfall chandelier, patterned rugs, spherical crystal table lamps. The effect is something between an antique lacquer box and a very elegant private library.

Cocktails are $24 and the service is described consistently as impeccable. The food side covers refined bar snacks and desserts. Sultry jazz plays at a level that permits conversation.

Sloane's is for an evening where the goal is to feel like the room cost more than it did and the drinks justify that impression. The Infatuation reviewed it warmly, which for SoHo is a meaningful data point.
