Hudson Malone: A New York Joint
Hudson Malone is in a circa-1890 two-story townhouse on East 53rd Street in Midtown East, and it carries that age honestly. Tin ceilings, exposed brick, a front bar that feels like a proper New York saloon rather than something designed to feel like one. The owner, Doug Quinn, is a veteran of the hospitality industry and built the place around the idea of a culinary saloon focused on NYC comfort food with local ingredients.
The room people don't always know about is upstairs. The Siren Room has a handcrafted 1890s bar, a piano that gets played several nights a week, and a separate entrance around the side of the building. The vibe up there is described as a speakeasy meets bordello, which is accurate without being a come-on. It's dark, it's small, and it feels like a private room that happened to become a bar.
Hudson Malone is closed on weekends, which tells you something about who it's built for.
