Blues Alley Club
Blues Alley, founded in 1965, is the oldest continuing jazz supper club in the United States, located in an 18th-century Georgetown carriage house that evokes the intimacy of 1920s and 30s jazz clubs. Known as the house that Dizzy built, this 125-seat venue has hosted internationally renowned artists like Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Grover Washington Jr., and Eva Cassidy across its storied stage. The ambiance is moody, intimate, and steeped in jazz history, making every performance feel like a special occasion. In 1986, the Blues Alley Jazz Society was established to support jazz education and mentor young performers. Current owner Harry Schnipper has been stewarding the venue since 2003, ensuring its legacy continues for future generations.
