The Devil's Acre
Sitting on the site of San Francisco's notorious 19th-century red-light district, The Devil's Acre at 256 Columbus Avenue in North Beach pays tribute to the Barbary Coast era and early medicinal apothecaries. The bar combines antiquated pharmacy ingredients with cocktails, evoking the 1850s-1900s when daytime apothecaries became boisterous bars by night. The centerpiece is a beautiful mahogany bar dating to 1860s San Francisco, originally from the historic Grand Hotel. A reservation-required bar that serves as a portal to San Francisco's rowdy past. Open daily.
