Expatriate
Note: Expatriate permanently closed in February 2026. This 30-seat speakeasy was housed in a former brothel in Northeast Portland's Concordia neighborhood, featuring a striking red-and-gold color scheme that channeled Prohibition-era glamour. The bar's crown jewel was a dramatic red-and-gold arch repurposed from Hollywood's former Pagoda restaurant. The intimate cocktail menu featured globally-inspired drinks like the Burma Sour with bourbon and pandan leaf, along with celebrated Burmese-inspired bar snacks. World music spun on vinyl while patrons enjoyed personalized service from professionally trained mixologists. While no longer operating, Expatriate's legacy as an innovative speakeasy concept will be remembered.
