The interior is Art Deco and deliberately Jazz Age in its references, with a cocktail program that uses agave spirits and whiskey as primary building blocks alongside unusual local ingredients. The Terroir Old Fashioned uses salt harvested by the bar team directly from Fort Tilden in Queens, which is the kind of detail that distinguishes a bar with an actual point of view from one that just charged a designer. There's a $75 per person food and beverage minimum on reservations, which filters the crowd in a specific way.

Getting to Overstory requires both the financial commitment and the journey to the Financial District, which is sufficiently far from most of the neighborhoods where people go out that arriving there already feels like a destination.
