Mangetsu Speakeasy
Mangetsu is tucked inside KEI Izakaya and Ramen on Seventh Avenue in Chelsea, invisible from the street unless you know to look past the noodle bowls. Mixologist Jun runs the bar, and the cocktails lean heavily into Japanese ingredients in ways that are genuinely surprising. A drink might come with wasabi heat, or something savory and green that reads more like food than a cocktail, until you taste it.
The room holds around twenty people. There's a red bar, dim lighting, and no real menu to anchor you. Jun tends to ask questions about what you like and builds something from there. Reservations are essential and not always easy to get.
It's the kind of bar that feels like a secret even after you're sitting in it.
