N7
N7 is a hidden French restaurant and wine bar at 1117 Montegut St in the Bywater neighborhood, founded by filmmaker Aaron Walker and chef Yuki Yamaguchi to honor the legendary Nationale 7 highway that connected Paris to the Italian border. The name references the "Route des Vacances" where Parisian families vacationed and relied on Michelin Guides to discover mom-and-pop restaurants, creating a philosophy of authentic, unpretentious excellence. The menu blends traditional French bistro fare with Japanese touches, featuring dishes like steak au poivre, pork katsu, bouillabaisse, and perfectly steamed mussels. The wine menu focuses on small European winemakers practicing natural, handmade approaches with minimal sulfites and no pesticides. Set behind a tall fence amidst a garden in a building once home to a tire shop and carriage stable, N7 earned Bon Appetit's Top 10 Best New Restaurants in America 2016 and Imbibe Magazine's Best Wine Bar in America 2016.
