Room 55 is on the rooftop of the Pelican Hotel at 826 Ocean Drive in South Beach, and the only way up is through the hotel lobby. There's no signage pointing you toward it from the street.

The penthouse level has views straight over the Atlantic, and the design leans Art Deco, matching the hotel it sits in. Cocktails are made to order and the kitchen sends up gourmet bites. It opens Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30pm and runs to 2am. During the day the same rooftop operates as the Pelican Cafe for brunch.

It's small, it fills up, and the ocean view is the real draw.
