Permission is an extensive whiskey bar and cocktail lounge in the Heights at 2920 White Oak Dr. The venue features close to 350 whiskeys lining its shelves, with bourbon selections organized by distillery. Proprietor Peter Nolan sourced antique chandeliers from New Orleans, green velvet for chairs and couches, and stained the bar shelves with Angostura bitters for character and atmosphere.

The cocktail menu mixes classics like the Bensonhurst and Boulevardier with house originals. A "secret menu" features elaborate preparations such as smoked Old Fashioneds. Charcuterie options are available with high-end accompaniments like caviar and oysters. Permission also features a hidden speakeasy called James, and customers can rent a locker ($1,200 annually) to keep their own bottles for private enjoyment. Open Monday-Wednesday 4pm-midnight, Thursday-Friday 4pm-2am.
