Trybal African Speakeasy
Trybal African Speakeasy is the first high-end African speakeasy in the United States, located at 1670 Champa Street in downtown Denver. Owned by Jeff Sankeu and Collantine Nkaum, both from Cameroon, it's designed to fully immerse you in the beauty of African culture through authentic food, handcrafted cocktails, African music, art, and live entertainment.
What makes Trybal truly unique is its culture-based entry system. To access the bar, you click "Access Trybal," learn a fact about African culture, and receive your pass to show at the door, adding an educational element to the speakeasy experience. The food menu rotates to spotlight flavors from different African regions, featuring family recipes from the owners' parents. Expect beef, chicken, and shrimp skewers with African peanut-based spices, Puff Puffs (beignet-like fried dough), Joloff rice, fried plantains, and more.
Signature cocktails are served in custom African glassware. Open Monday-Thursday 5pm-midnight and Friday-Saturday 3pm-midnight, Trybal celebrates African culture with style and authenticity.
