Valedor
Valedor is on Milwaukee Avenue in Wicker Park behind blacked-out windows, and the concept has a specific backstory: the drinks are built around the culinary traditions that developed in Mexico City after a wave of Japanese immigration following World War II. The menu is tequila, mezcal, and sotol, but prepared through a culinary lens rather than shaken and stirred in the traditional sense.
There's a romantic enclosed nook if you want it. The al pastor gyoza and a dish called "birriyaki" are on the food side. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 5pm.
