The Heavy Feather is above Slippery Slope on Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square, which means you go through a downstairs bar to get to it. The room upstairs commits fully to a 1970s fern bar aesthetic: peacock feather wallpaper, a stuffed bear, green shrubbery, leather rolling chairs, and lighting that makes everything look sepia.

No food is served, but outside food is welcome. The cocktails are 1970s recipes rebuilt with quality ingredients, so a plum gin fizz comes with Averell Damson gin and Cynar instead of whatever was in the original. The team came from Scofflaw and Sink/Swim, and the care shows. It's a genuinely fun room that doesn't take itself too seriously.
