Marge's Still
When Schaller's Pump closed in 2017, Marge's Still inherited the title of Chicago's oldest continuously operating tavern. The building on Sedgwick in Old Town has been a bar in some form since 1885, which means it ran bathtub gin through two World Wars and outlasted every trend that came through the neighborhood.
The original stained glass fixtures are still there. The beveled windows and the wooden bar haven't been replaced. It looks like what it is: a place that people kept returning to for 140 years, which is reason enough to have a drink there.
