Elixir has two locations, one in Boystown on Halsted and one in Andersonville on Balmoral. Both run as high-end cocktail lounges that tend toward quiet and deliberate rather than loud and social.

The Halsted location runs late: Friday until 4am, Saturday until 5am, which is unusual for a cocktail bar rather than a club. The drinks use fresh, unusual ingredients and the room is darker and more focused than most bars in either neighborhood. Worth knowing about when everything else has closed.
